MAURO
FARINA & GIULIANO CRIVELLENTE MUSIC STORY
Mauro was born in
Brescia, a little town of 200.00 beteween Milan and Venice in the heart
of North of Italy. Since he was young he showed an unweavering interest
in music. When he was 6 years old he already knew all the Beatles songs
and the first record he bought was "I want to hold your hand"!!!
Mauro recieved his first guitar from his parents when he was 8 years old,
and he quickly taught himself how to play it. At the age of 11 years he
founded his first group called ALBATROS.
He was the youngest
member of the band which consisted of 3 guitar boys, 1 keyboards boy and
1 drummer.
Mauro played the rythm
guitar and he was the main vocalist. The repertoire of ALBATROS included
covers of Beatles songs like "Hey Jude", "Strawberry Fields
Forever", "Get Back" and covers of CCR songs like "Suzie
Q" and others.
In 1969 ALBATROS were
deeply influenced by the wild WOODSTOCK scene and they started to perform
some tracks of Crosby Still Nash & Young, Santana etc.
They would play concerts
in the countryside near Verona where Mauro went to live with his parents
at the age of 9. Of course Mauro also attneded school, and after secondary
levels he decided to study mathematics at the age of 18 he went to university
to study mechanical engineering. But his main passion was always and only
music!!!
Giuliano was born
in Verona, the famous town of Romeo and Juliet. He was a very sensitive
and introverted child whose foremost interest was playing the piano. He
started very young, and learned to play with the help of his father who
played the piano as well.
Giuliano's father
had a strong influence on him and he pushed Guiliano to develope his knowledge
of music. At the age of 11 Giuliano started studying at The Music Academy
of Verona which he attended until the age of 19.
At the beginning he
played only calssical music but thanks to groups like The Beatles, Animals
and especailly Emerson Lake & Palmer he started to like and perfomr
pop music. At the age of 16 a well-known band in Verona asked him to play
the piano as an additional musician.
From that moment on,
Giuliano understood that the pop music would be his future. At the age
of 17 he founded a trio that payed pop and jazz, and at that time he was
considered one of the most talented yound piano players in the Italian
music scene.
With his trio, he
started to tour Italy. People were curious about this young virtuoso who
played beautiful melodies with a great touch in a natural way.
At the age of 19,
after finishing at the Music academy, some Italian producers of pop music
invated him to play piano and keyboards in studio session with important
Italian artists.
That was the first
time Giuliano stepped into a recording studio... and it was love at first
sight!!
At the age of 19 Mauro
knew he was ready for a hightended musical challenge. He joined in with
a band of talented musician that were in search of a male vocal lead,
and CARAVAN, the best italian dnace group of the 70's and 90's was born.
CARAVAN's great music,
great style and freshness made them successful for 15 years. With Mauro,
CARAVAN's carde of talented musicians performed numerous shows, for many
years, all over Italy. No other Italian dance group has come close to
their drawing power. In 1980, they did 310 shows in the best Italan clubs,
and hundreds of thousands of people saw them and danced to their music.
CARAVAN was the first
Italian group to reproduce "live" the songs of Bobby Orlando,
Sylvester, Patrick Cowley, K.C. and The Sunshine Band, Moroder and many
others. Along with Mauro, on the stage were young performers who later
became big names in the music industry - producers such as Roby Arduini
(Capella, Paul Sharada, 49ers) and Mario Natale (arranger of Italian artists
Milva, Fiorello, Ami Stewart and many others), and excellent musician
such as G. Panarello (Ric Fellini & Family Number One). The outstanding
experiences with CARAVAN would permanently influence Mauor's music life.
While CARAVAN was
playing in all the hot clubs in Italy, Giuliano, a piano and keyboards
player, started to colloborate with many Italian artists in recording
studio sessions and appeared as a special guest on many albums of pop
Italian artists.
One day, an owner
of studio in Brescia asked Giuliano to find some energetic musician to
start an album project in a dance-funk style. It was 1975 and the sound
of CARAVAN was growing in a big way, so Giuliano decided to go to a concert
that the group was giving in a castle in the countryside of Verona. There
were 15000 pumped up fans of CARAVAN at the concert who were dazzled as
the group opened the concert playing the famous Pink Floyd song "Shine
On You Crazy Diamond".
Giuliano was impressed
by the great ability of the group, but was especially taken by the flexible
and dynamic voice of Mauro, whose range included Led Zeppelin rock ballads
and the spirited funky tracks of KC and The Sunshine Band.
At the end of concert
Giuliano went to meet the group and invited Mauro to record one of his
songs in studio. That day started the extraordianry colloboration between
Mauro And Giuliano. Together they wrote more than 1000 tracks, produced
more than 1500 titles, and sold more than 10.000.000 albums and several
millions singles.
The golden years were beginning.
Mauro & Giuliano
started towork together, recording tracks writtne by Giuliano and performed
by Mauro as lead vocalist. All these tracks were sung in Italian and recorded
on mid-tempo pop and ballad styles.
These tracks found
their way to the most important Italian companies, and soon Mauro &
Giuliano signed a 3-year artistic contract. During those three years they
wrote many Italian pop songs under the name of DALTON and participated
in the prestigious and famous Festival of San Remo. While spending the
majority of his time in the recording studios, Mauro continued to perform
live with CARAVAN.
In 1979 Mauro has
discoverd the sounds of two artists that greatly influenced his "dance
creativity" and later also Giuliano's: BOBBY ORLANDO & PATRICK
COWLEY. Their incredible and powerful sounds hypnotized Mauro. He listend
to the songs of these two Americans many times, as he tried to catch the
strong energy that their sounds delivered. Inevitably, Mauro had included
songs like "Menergy" and "Technological World" by
Patrick Cowley and "She Has A Way" of Bobby Orlando in the live
repertoir of the CARAVAN. Wherever hte group performed these songs, they
met with enthusiasm and success and made people dance.
When they started
collaborating, Mauro shared this music with Giuliano and caught his interest.
Giuliano was taken by the sound of the keyboards, the play and arrangment
of the synthesizer, and the power of the kick and snare. Both Mauro and
Giuliano became enhusiast of this kind of music. As a result of their
shared interest, they decidet to produce their first dance track.
They booked studio
in Torino where they performed and recorded a track with CARAVAN. The
track was titled "You And Me Tonight" and it was the first Farina
& Crivellente production!!
It was 1981. Giuliano
& Mauo established the FACTORY SOUND STUDIO and S.A.I.F.A.M srl! At
the beginning, the studio was open to anybody who wanted to book it and
to any producer who wanted to record thei song.
Giuliano played all
the keyboards, Mauro programmed the sequencers and electronic drums, and
performed many lead and background vocals. In 1982 they met SANDRO OLIVA,
a sound engineer, and the three gelled into a dynamite team. Mauro would
plack out initial melodies with his guitar and Sandro would pitch in with
some suggestion, then Giuliano would add in a keyboard overlay, intergratign
powerful phrases and strong bass-lines, while the frenetic sequencers
recorded everything on a demo-tape.
During 1992, using
this creative process, Mauro & Giuliano formed the ideas, wrote the
melodies, and polished the songs that become their dance hits!!
In the meantime they started to colloborate with many other producer like
CLAUDIO CATTAFESTA & GINO CARIA. KEN LASZLO's first producion was
written by SANDRO OLIVA and recorded in FACTORY SOUND STUDIOS. It was
titles "Hey Hey Guy".
This was huge success
with hundreds of thousands of copies sold all over the world! Mauro worked
on this track as background vocalist and sound engineer in collaboration
with Sandro, and added some ideas for the keyboard arrangements. Giuliano
played the keyboards with CLAUDIO CATTAFESTA. GINO CARIA played all the
percussion and programmed the drum. To record the famous introduction,
simulating a conversation between two friends, the telephone at the Factory
Sound Studios was connected with the internal line at the reception desk.
Everyone enjoyed the wild time in studio, and the funny and crazy production
process! Interestengly, the song itself was released long after it was
recorded. None of the distrubutors believed that the song had any potential.
Time showed hot wrong they were.
During one of the
CARAVAN shows in 1982, Mauro met a hip Italian deejay called PIER FEROLDI
who soon became a good friend of his. Pier had a deep knowledge of the
international dance music scene.
Mauro and Pier soon
became interested in producing a record together with the help of ROBY
ARDUINI of CARAVAN. Under the name of HANANAS, Roby, Mauro and Pier produced
a dance cover of "From Here To Eternity" (the big hit of GIORGIO
MORODER).
This track had a lot
of success in the most important Italian Clubs and was licensed in many
countries all over the world! Thanks to this first dance hit, yound Italian
producers like GIANFRANCO BORTOLOTTI (the actual owner of MEDIA RECORDS),
and GIACOMO MAIOLINI, the actual owner of TIME RECORDS, contacted FACTORY
SOUND STUDIOS. Everybody wanted to colloborate and produce with Mauro
& Giuliano!
During 1982 Mauro
& Giuliano started to work with many Italian distributors like GONG
MUSIC, DISCOMAGIC, DISCOTT, and BEST MUSIC. During the next few years
(1982-85) these crews produced many upbeat tracks to keep Italian people
dancing - songs like BRAND IMAGE "Are You Loving", LOVEABLES
"It's Beautiful", FAMILY NUMBER ONE "Lara De Bahia"
and many many others.
Farina & Crivellente
were becoming very famous. During this time they wrote songs for many
top Italian dance artists like PAUL SHARADA "Move Your Feet"
and "Dancing All The Night", CHRIS LANG "Old Calipso Tune",
DEBORAH HASLAM "Let Me Trouble", and MIKO MISSION "Toc
Toc Toc" and many more.
In parallel, Mauro
& Giuliano formed a new enterpreise called TIME RECORDS with GIACOMO
MAIOLINI. With the help of Giacomo, Mauro & Giuliano became the preeminnet
"masters" of Italian Dance Music! No other company has ever
gad the same success as TIME RECORDS had from 1983 to 1987! In 4 years
they wrote and produced an incredible number of dance hits which were
played constantly by deejays throughout Italy!!! During those years the
dance Artists of Time Reocrods became immensely popular. There are so
many artists and songs written and produced by Mauro & Giuliano it's
quite impossible to name all of them! Here are only some examples of the
numerous productions that were dance hits during that time:
ATRIUM "Funny Dancer" - "Doctor Jackill & Mr. Hide"
ALEPH "Fly To Me" - "Fire On The Moon" - "Big
Brother"
VIRGIN "Tell Me Why"
ALBERT ONE "Secrets" - "For Your Love"

In the meantime they
built a second studio to increase their ability to record all their ideas.
During 1985 they become friends with MARCO BRESCIANI & PAOLO GEMMA,
two deejays producers. With them they created a group that became one
of the most important European dance groups in the world: RADIORAMA. Many
of the tracks that they wrote and produced for RADIORAMA reached the top
of the charts in countries like Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Japan,
Benelux, Scandinavia, Mexico, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Thailand,
Australia, Spain etc. Songs like "Desire", "Vampires",
"Aliens", "Yeti", "ABCD" and others have
been played by deejays almost continuously, crowning "Farina &
Crivellente" "Kings Of Italian Dance"!!
THE JAPAN
ERA
In 1986, Giuliano
& Mauro founded a new record company with FLORIAN FADINGER! In 1986
Florian was in Italy with one of his talents, a world famous artist OFF.
Florian was taking care of the promotion of "Electric Salsa"
and, during a very important show, Mauro and Giuliano met him.
A great friendship
immediately developed between the three. They all shared idea of creating
a new kind of dance style with a new unique flavor. The result was newly
created record company called ASIA RECORDS. All three were enchanted by
Asian ideas, and especially Japanese culture.
They liked the energy
of the Japnese people, and they were intrigued by the Japanese lifestyle,
which was kind of mix of technology and spirituality, of skyscrapers and
temples. They were influenced by all of these things when they created
"Japanese High-Energy". Yes, these three European guys invented
a music style that still is the main music for Japanese teens today.
The "Japan Era"
started with some tracks composed for another Italian Company called FLEA
RECORDS. They released songs like ROSS "Don't Stop" and MALCOLM
J. HILL "Take A Chance" that caught on in a big way in Japan
and all the rest of Asia!!! These two tracks entered the Japanese charts
as the Japanese people were fascinated by this powerful and energetic
sound.
The most important
Japanese record companies started to release all the tracks written and
produced by Mauro, Giuliano & Florian. Their company became a tremendous
success in Japan. They were so popular that the FCF (Farina, Crivellente,
Fadinger) trade-mark was soon inprinted on bottles, umbrellas, shirts,
balloons etc. Even cars were painted with the faces of the three producers...
an unbelievable success. More than 8,000,000 albums and many millions
and singles were sold from 1986 to 1991. Some tracks like "Boom Boom
Dollars" by KING KONG or "Help Me" by MELA or "Power
Of Magic" by ALPHATOWN are still routinely played today by deejays,
and appear in currently released compilations.
Importatn additional
colloborators of Mauro & Giuliano during that period were LAURENT
G. NEWFILED, CLAUDIO
ACCATINO & FEDERICO RIMONTI, ALBERTO BINDELLA & CLARA MORONI.
Laurent was from France and had travelled to Italy when was he was young.
In 1985 he started as a sound engineer in FACTORY SOUND STUDIO replacing
SANDRO OLIVA. He also played the guitar, performing in a lot of FCF tracks.
CLAUDIO ACCATINO & FEDERICO RIMONTI owned a studio called LIVE MUSIC.
Mauro wanted to combine
forces with them because they showed a perspective talent for "High
Energy" arrangments for Japanese listeners. With them , FCF worked
on very famous tracks like "Gunfire" by MARK FARINA, "Chica
Cubana" by LAURIE & TATJANA (the version by Tatjana also blasted
through the European sales charts selling hundred thousands of singles)
and many many others.
ALBERTO BINDELLA (he
is still working with Mauro producing many artists like KEN LASZLO, WILDSIDE
etc.), worte and produced a lot of melodic tracks that Japanese teens
loved like "Help Me" by MELLA, "Out Of My Heart" by
LAURIE, "Stop Me Baby" by MIKE HAZZARD etc.
CLARA MORONI was a
talent with an incredible voice, and performed many of the high-energy
tracks, supporting many artists during the recording session. She was
the female singer during the TV shows of MARK FARINA, and performed with
him on a lot of records.
THE JAPAN
ERA 2
During 1987 - 1988
Mauro, Giuliano and Florian received theri first three gold discs (by
the end of Japanese era they would win a total of eleven gold discs and
three platinum discs). A large part of their production was geared towards
the Japanese market. At the same time, they continued colloborations with
Italian artists like MIKO MISSION, STYLOO and others. Mauro, under name
of MARK FARINA, entered the Italian sales charts with his track called
"Take Your Time" and performed on many TV shows. In Japan, the
song "Boom Boom Dollars" by KING KONG won the Dance Music Awards
as the best dance track in entire Asian continent.
The album "The Best Of Radiorama" was released all over the
world.
The track "Tell By Your Eyes" by DR. ZIVAGO sold around 200,000
copies in Japan. It is difficult to name all the hits that were produced
by Mauro, Giuliano & Florian through their labels ASIA, BHF, NEW MEAL
POWER, RADIORAMA, FCF, a and ITALIAN COMPANY during 1987 - 1990. This
perdio was so fruitful and busy that they decided to open a new studio
(the third one) and they hired two young men who would play an inportant
role in future music productions at S.A.I.F.A.M.
Johnny Di Martino
(aka Johnny Mix) and Fabio Serra started to colloborate with Mauro Farina
in the creation of many tracks, and they formed a production staff called
THE FACTORY TEAM.
Johnny was taking
care of all the mixes, replacing Laurent G. Newfield and became the main
sound-engineer of all the S.A.I.F.A.M.'s studios. All tracks produced
had his mixing-touch. Fabio was taking care of all the keyboard and guitar
arrangements with Mauro. Fabio also started to compose some tracks with
Mauro & Giuliano. Actually Fabio & Johnny, with Mauro, menage
and coordinate all the S.A.I.F.A.M. studios, and are responsibile for
all the internal producers that are working in the structure. With their
great experience they could be considered the "alter ego" of
Mauro.
Surely, without the
tremendous support of Fabio & Johnny, S.A.I.F.A.M. couldn't have consistently
release so many big and successful tracks!
1990 - 91
THE EUROPEAN HITS
Even if the Japanese
market was the main interest fot Mauro & Giuliano, they heard a very
catchy style of music that was being played by UK deejays... HOUSE MUSIC.
Mauro received a cassette from a DJ friend which included all the music
played in clubs located in IBIZA. He relished the amplified rythmic grooves
and new full precussions. He loved the thousand of samples that were mixed
with original melodic lines.
He decided to experiment
with some Italian deejays, while Giuliano was carrying on the "Eurobeat"
for the Japanese market. After many days spent in the studio trying out
new sounds, the first house tracks were born. Introduced were tracks like
"Ibiza" by DON PABLO'S ANIMALS or "Manila" by THE
CORPORATION and others.
However, the first
big success arrived in March 1999 with "Moments in Soul" by
J. T. AND THE BIG FAMILY. This track was released under a new label called
BHF in joint venture with three great Italian producers: BISIACHI-HORNBOSTEL-FERRUCCI.
The track was top
3 in the UK and secured a place in many European nad Internatinal sales
charts, and sold hudreds of thousands of copies. After this track the
name of S.A.I.F.A.M. became very popular with House-Music lovers all over
the world.
In April 1990, while
"Moments in Soul" was at the top of the European charts, another
great house track was becoming successful as well... "Venus"
by DON PABLOS'S ANIMALS. Some colloborators of Mauro (Ricky Stecca &
Max Artusi) came up with a remarkable and creative idea. Their famous
gimmick was to sample the guitar of the Shocking Blue '70s hit "Venus"
mixed with house grooves topped with James Brown sampling.
The track had an incredible
power driving anymore hearing to move their body! DON PABLO'S ANIMALS
entered the UK charts, reaching the 2 position during the first week of
release! Mauro & S.A.I.F.A.M. were in the top ten UK charts and in
the top 20 European charts simultaneously with 2 tracks!!
The success went on
month by month. In June 1990, another big hit by SL LINE "Another
Day In Paradise" was rising in the European charts. In Semptember
1990, MXM hit it big with "Nothing Compares 2 U". During 1991
an incredible series of hot tracks took off, including "Ride Like
The Wind" by BLUE JAM, "Foreign Affair" by J. T. &
THE BIG FAMILY, "Life" by FORTE, "Waste Your Time"
by RED FOX and many many others. Through labels like BHF, MEAL POWER and
INTERDANCE tracks were written and worked on by big producers like VISNADI
BROTHERS, and DJ CIRILLO and released.
In the meantime Mauro
& Giuliano introduced another great song that became incredibly famous
in Japan: "Tell By Your Eyes" by DR. ZIVAGO. This track was
translated into Jpanese and sold over 5000,000 pieces. From 1986 to 1991
Mauro & Giuliano wrote, produced and menaged more than 700 songs,
selling millions of copies and became one of the most important production
teams of the dance world!!
1992 THE SPOP
AND THE BIG CHANGES
After 6 years of very
hard work, Mauro & Giuliano decided to take a break. Florian went
back to Germany, to Munchen, where in co-partnership with Mauro established
S.A.I.F.A.M. MUSIK GERMANY. During 1992 the main itnerest of Mauro Farina
was updating all the studios with new equipment, and building new studios
(UNIVERSAL STUDIOS). He then met FABIO TURATTI and started a new colloboration
that is still going on. Fabio is a great musician. He studied guitar for
many years, becoming one of the best classical guitarist of the Academy
of Music of Verona.
Together with Mauro
since 1993, he has produced beautiful songs and important dance artists
and currently he is one of the main S.A.I.F.A.M. producers. While the
new studio was under construction, Giuliano begin to consider writing
and producing songs for kids. After so many years of dance, he wanted
to change his musical character and start a new musical adventure! For
this reason, Mauro & Giuliano closed ASIA RECORDS. Mauro, with the
Factory Team, created two new labels: 21st CENTURY RECORDS & ONE WAY
RECORDS. The first release under 21st CENTURY was a success: "Forever
Young" by DJ SPACE'S. The track entered the Spanish sales charts
immediately and was released in 27 different countries.
For the debut of the
label ONE WAY, Mauro got in touch with one of the most important Italian
dance artists: DEN HARROW. A track called "Take Me" was produced
in 4 different versions and became immediately club-hit! Another great
colloboration of those years was with IAN LEX (aka Rino Facchinetti).
He produced a top track written by Mauro & Giuliano "Just Over
The Time". This track was also very successful and was releasedin
numerous countries. A lot of new songs were writtne and many big new artists
were produced and promoted. The story was becoming again, dance, always
dance, forever dance. Then in 1994 Mauro met BRONSKIE BEAT!!!
A NEW GOLD
ERA 1994 - 95 - 96 (BRONSKIE BEAT - D. J. MIKO)
Mauro and Bronskie
Beat decided to start their great colloboration remixing the hits the
Ha group. In Semptember '94 new version of "Smalltown Boy",
"Hit That Perfect Beat" and "Tell Me Why" were produced
by Mauro, Factory Team and Steve Bronskie at the Factory Sound Studios.
After that, they decided to produce a whole album.
The production of
the album "RAINBOW NATION" started in October '94 and was ultimately
finished in February '95.
It was a great experience
for all of them. The album testifies to the deep and strong feelings they
created. The energetic power of " I LUV THE NIGHTLIFE", the
sad atmosphere f "FOREVER AND A DAY", the wonderful "KICKIN
UP THE RAIN", and the magic "SLOW DOWN" demonstrated the
talent of all the people involved in this project.
Another great hit
produced by Mauro, Factory Team and Ricky Stecca was the dance cover of
a track by 4 NON BLONDES called "WHAT'S UP" done by D. J. MIKO.
This production made it to sales charts all over the world - Italy, UK,
Germany, France, Scandinavia, Japan, Australian, Southeast Asia, and the
USA.
The record solf over
1,000,000 copies. With this track the reputation of MAURO FARINA &
FACTORY TEAM became again so hgih that many big international artists
went to DFACTORY SOUND STUDIOS to perform with MAURO and his team. During
'95 the remixed and produced artists including AMOS ("Sweet Music"
and "Only Saw Today").
These tunes remained at the top of the Italian sales charts for many weeks.
Other important remixes were REAL 2 REAL - "Can You Feel It"
(released all over the world by EMI UK-POSITIVA); THELMA HOUSTON and her
incredible "Don't Leave Me This Way"; TWENTY 4 SEVEN "Leave
Them Alone" and many others. In 1996 they entered the French charts
with T. H. EXPRESS "I'm On Your Side".
Tommie Jenkins was
also produced by Mauro & Factory Team, and had fabulous success eith
the song "Let Me Be Your Love" written by Mauro & Alberto
Bindella. Another "era" of great song begun!
TODAY AND
THE FUTURE
At the present the
S.A.I.F.A.M. Group consists of five different companies: S.A.I.F.A.M.
- ARSNEIC, LA MATTA/UNION - DANCE POOL - S.A.I.F.A.M. MUSIK GERMANY. S.A.I.F.A.M.

Mauro's input of course!
GIULIANO left S.A.I.F.A.M.
in 1998 and dedicates all his time producing music for kids through his
own company called MELA MUSIC. For the occasion of THE GOLDEN YEARS, he
wrote and performed in studio with Mauro the track called "A SIMPLE
SONG" where he played the piano and did the background vocals. This
has been the past performance of Giuliano in the Factory Sound Studio.
Even though they are great friends, they will now follow different careers.
Mauro is working on S.A.I.F.A.M. USA joint-venture project with JEFF JOHNSON
(INTERHIT RECORDS). Mauro's intention is to open a branch office of S.A.I.F.A.M.
in Los Angeles, and start to produce compilations for the American market.
Thanks to the out-standing work for the great stuff, S.A.I.F.A.M. is considered
one of the most important Indenpendent dance music companies in the world.
With 400 titles and
40 compilations released every year, S.A.I.F.A.M. is selling millions

many many more.
During these fabulous
19 years Mauro & Giuliano have dedicated a great part of their life
to the dance music world, but the story will go on, hopefully for many
years to come. Thanks to he hundred thousands of people that love the
music... even if they are only "SIMPLE SONG"!!!!

BACK ON TOP

During some months in 1999 and 2000 I have saved few old issues
of Mauro's Corner, the article published on S.A.I.F.A.M. site.
I think this could be interesting for some to see what Mauro
was doing back in the 20th century :-)
MAURO's
CORNER - JUNE 1999 (copyright
S.A.I.F.A.M. srl)
Dear Friends,
I hope
you all are doing well! It is my great pleasure to start writing
my own column called "Mauro's Corner" for our DANCE
DIMENSIONS web-magazine. It will be great opportunity to keep
in touch with you and to let you have some insite information
on what is going on in our studios!!! Every month I will make
this "appointment" with you and I promise you to
give a lot of details regarding our releases, artists, producers
etc. etc. etc!!!!
Well, let's see what is happening in Factory
Sound Studios with those crazy guys of the Factory Team!!!
Good news for all the old High Energy fans!!!
Do you remember the track called "Ever & Ever"
by VENICE???? Yeahhh, it will be remixed by me, Fabio &
Johnny in June and it will be released on 21st Century label!!!
I got a "great idea" in my mind concerning some
other old tracks, but I will tell you about it in near future!!!!!
We are also preparing a new release for KEN
LASZLO. It will be a song written by me and Crivellente few
years ago! Speaking of old tracks, here is another preview
: JENNY (the female vocalist of KEN LASZLO's ("Whatever
love", "What a Lonely Night" etc. etc.) will
release a single on 21st Century label, called "Hot Love"!!!
Yes, it is the remake of her big 80's hit released on ASIA
RECORDS (by JENNY KEE, do you remember it??????).
Well, for now, let's switch gears and talk
about "Macho"!!!! Have you heard of track: "Let's
Talk About Macho" by X-RATED and released under STOP
AND GO label??? For your information behind this project is
a well-known Italian Dance Group called DATURA!!!!! These
great guys started to work with S.A.I.F.A.M. and you bet they
will produce a lot of BIG HITS!!!! X-RATED will be realeased
in JAPAN by POLYDOR, in EAST EUROPE by UNIVERSAL, in SOUTH
AMERICA by TOTAL MUSIC, in SPAIN by CONTRASENA....... and
this is only the beginning ! I believe that the track will
enter International charts soon. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!!!!
Last thing: there is a track called "Crazy
Party" (CAPTAIN HOOK), written by me, Turatti and Paolino
Nobile (aka DJ SCOTT) that started to work very well in Italian
Radio Stations!! It's a kind of mix between AQUA & VENGABOYS
style!! Let me know what is your opinion. I think, the song
is very funny and has some "good potentials" for
all dancefloors!!!!
Well, now it's the time to come back to studios...............
THERE IS PLENTY OF WORK TO DO!!!
DOMO ARIGATO!!!!!
MAURO FARINA
MAURO's
CORNER - JULY 1999 (copyright

Dear Friends,
I just got back from Miami, Florida. I was
there because of Midem America...... The business has been
great like the sun and the beach....... I really love to stay
in Ocean Drive!
Let's talking about music, I get some important
news for you: Me and Factory Team are working on new Patrick
Victorio release. It will be an original song written by me
and Serra.
With Turatti I am also working on a cover-remix
of one of my favourite tunes: "Do You Wanna Funk"
by the "Mitico" Sylvester, what a great track it
is! We are arranging it with strong sequencers and a powerful
kick. I am sure that you will like it!!!
Me and Turatti we worked also on a new track
that we both have written. It is called "In the Middle
of the Sun" performed by a new female artist POW-WOW.
She is very nice and her voice is very special ! Don't forget
to listen to the sound sampler when it is posted on our web-site!!!
Now I wanna tell you something about our main
project for you all! Yes only for our web-friends!!!!! We
have decided to release a TRIPLE CD COMPILATION !!! with all
the best tracks of Farina & Crivellente. Expect some rarities
you will NOT find anywhere else! This edition will compile
the best tracks we ever released (in our opinion of course).
You will find there tracks released between 1982 until 1999
plus an original track that will be entitled "The Last
Melody" and released only for this compilation. It will
be a simple ballad dedicated to all our friends with a special
part that will include mine and Giuliano's voices.
I really would like to thank you for all the
effort you gave our music and this album will celebrate you
and us!!!! There will be also a little book with photos and
a short story of me and Giuliano music activities. We will
release only 1.000 copies of this special compilation and
it will never be re-printed!!!! This is collector edition!
The tentative title for it is "The Golden Years"
(Farina & Crivellente)" ....but I am ready to hear
your suggestions through our Message ChatBoard !!!
Okay...that's all for the moment. Have a great
summer time and let's keep in touch!!!!
HASTA LUEGO !!!!!!!!!!!!
MAURO FARINA
MAURO's
CORNER - August 1999 (copyright
S.A.I.F.A.M. srl)
Dear Friends,
Are you enjoying summertime???? I hope so!!!!
Here in S.A.I.F.A.M. all the studios are closed........Johnny
of Factory Team went to Waikiki, Serra is in Canada , Turatti
in France and so on.. All the guys will be back on 23 August
and then the music life will roll on again!!!
By the way, I got some news for you:
Before leaving for holidays, we recorded new
Radiorama song. I really hope you will like it. The title
is "One More Time" but it could be changed. We will
release it in September (obviously on 21st Century label).
We also did a very powerful remix of a 70's track. The famous
hit "I Feel The Earth Move" (do you remember Martika
???) Well, I hope you will like the job me and FACTORY TEAM
did on this one. Another great track (thanks to the suggestion
of our big friend Troy), called "Dust In The Wind"
has been remixed in dance style. Please listen to it!!!
Now, I would like to talk again about our
big project "THE GOLDEN YEARS", the triple CD compilation
that will include the story of FARINA & CRIVELLENTE music.
We have decided to include with the compilation a special
booklet with many pages (around 80-100) containing plethora
of photos and little biography of me and Giuliano!!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BOOKLET WILL BE INCLUDED
ONLY IN A LIMITED EDITION OF 1.000 PIECES AND IT WILL BE SOLD
WITH THE COMPILATION ONLY THROUGH INTERNET!!!!!
It simply means, that you will NOT find the
booklet anywhere else (like shops or distributors!) We decided
to make this "a special thank you gift" for our
internet friends. I hope you will like this idea!!
In the middle of August 1999, we will start
to accept your pre-orders for this one-in-a-life-time compilation.
DO NOT pass this opportunity. When the 1.000 copies are sold,
they are gone FOREVER. The special ORDER SECTION will be up
soon, so please monitor the Main Page of our website.
Also, through our web-site, you will be able
to get a new compilation called "VIVA CARTOONS"!!!
It includes 18 ULTRA HOT tracks, all recorded in "bubbledance"
style. Don't miss it!
Now some news regarding our new productions:
In September we will release new JESSICA JAY.......a
fashion cha cha-dance remix of "Sway". The famous
hit of 50's... We recorded 4 different versions. We are going
to write also a new original track for WIENNA and KEN LASZLO.
However, the new production of KEN will be post-dated to 2000.
Now some chart-news regarding our tracks:
SPIRITUAL PROJECT "O fortuna" entered
the national charts (20° position) in SOUTH AFRICA. During
incoming weeks, we will produce an album featuring trance-progressive
style. Another good new from JAPAN. "Sky High" by
DJ MIKO (included in his "The Last Millenium" album),
took 42° position in FM ZIP, the most important Japanese
radio charts! During these days we shooted a little video
for TV NAGOYA , just to thank all the staff of TV NAGOYA and
FM ZIP for their effort. DJ MIKO "What's up 2000"
reached the 1st position of the national radios charts and
the track has been considered one of the 20 best dance-tracks
of the year!!!
I REALLY HOPE TO START AGAIN A NEW "EUROBEAT"
AGE IN JAPAN.......VIVA TOKYO!!!!
CIAO CIAO!!!!

Ciao Everybody !!!
Did you all have good summer vacation???
Here in SAIFAM we have been closed for a couple
of weeks and finally we had a little bit of relax but now......WE'RE
ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!! Here the news of the month:
First of all I have an important announcement
to make to all our American fans !!! Beginning in October
we will start a special cooperation with a great friend Jeff
Johnson from Los Angels (his is the ex managing director of
the Dance Record company called INTERHIT). With Jeff we will
start to produce compilations in different styles with catching
US market in our mind. With invaluable help of Jeff we will
try to catch the taste of the American folks. This is very
exciting and even if we know that it will be a hard work,
we are committed to put a lot of effort to reach the musical
heart of that Great Nation!! The first compilation will be
released in the beginning of October. It will be called TRANCE
EXPRESS VOL.1 and it will include some huge trance and techno
tracks already well known in Europe like BACON POPPER "Free",
SPIRITUAL PROJECT "O' fortuna" and many others.
Obviously you will find all the details here on our web-site.
Tiziana and our big big big big friend Kris will do their
best to keep update all of you on our next steps into this
"new adventure"!!!!
As of "work in progress" we have
news for you! Two new dance compilations will be ready soon:
DANCE ON THE WEB - Volume 6 and SUPERDANCE 2 ! As of WEB 6
you can be asssured that we have compiled a huge and interesting
tracking-list. You will love it! Regarding SUPERDANCE 2 we
have listened to all suggestions you made and we have decided
NOT to mix the tracks included in this compilation. You will
not only find all the extended versions but also truly A FANTASTIC
MEGAMIX produced by THE GREAT SAVINO. Bravo Savino you did
a great job and I wanna thank you and all the special team
of I VENTI D'AZZURRO!!!
Talking about the new productions, me and
FACTORY TEAM , we are working on a remix of SIMON & GARFUNKEL
"Bridge over troubles." In my opinion this is a
wonderful song. It will be difficult to keep the same "atmosphere"
using dance arrrangement, but we will do our best!!!!
With TURATTI we are working also on a new
track for CAPTAIN HOOK. This "bubble gum dance"
style is getting popular everywhere. Just for your information
our recently released "bubble" compilation VIVA
CARTOONS is going to become gold disc in some territories.
It has been already released in ITALY - POLAND - BULGARIA
- TURKEY - ARABIA - EGYPT - INDIA - ARGENTINA - BRAZIL - MEXICO
- VENEZUELA - CHILE - PHILIPPINES - MALAYSIA - SINGAPORE -
THAILAND and KOREA!!!!

Hola Friends,
So this is it! We finally arrived to the end
of Millenium ! The 31st of December of 1999 will surely be
the craziest and hottest night of all in our life. Are you
ready??? Here in SAIFAM we are in mystic athmosphere. "It's
a kind of magic", but we all are ready to enter 2000
with hope in our hearts that the new millenium will bring
us a lot of "creativity" as we have had in the last
15 years!!!
Talking about the music: our music! Let me
brief you on what is happening in our studios!! THE FACTORY
TEAM is working with me and GIULIANO CRIVELLENTE in the production
of the last song that will ultimate our "GOLDEN YEARS"
album. At this point the track is "TOP SECRET" and
it will be dedicated to all our great fans and dance lovers
all over the world! We together are working also on two original
tracks written by me and Fabio Serra, both of them will be
released under 21st CENTURY, but we are still deciding which
SAIFAM artist will perform them.
Concerning FABIO TURATTI and his UNIVERSAL
STUDIOS, he remixed two old big hits of our french friend
artist MICHAEL FORTUNATI. The two tracks are "Give Me
Up" (will be released under ONE WAY RECORDS in December)
and "In The Night" (will be released on ONE WAY
RECORDS as well in the beginning of 2000).
In UNION TEAM, our faboulous ROBY ARDUINI
& TONI PUNTILLO have finished a very simple and funny
song called "Dolly Girl" performed by ZIPPERS, the
crazy guys of "BUFFALO BILL". The track will be
released on INTERDANCE LABEL next January.
In ARSENIC STUDIOS, me - PAOLINO NOBILE &
ANDREA BOARI (the man that remixed the hit by ZOMBIE NATION),
have produced a very strong club track called "Plutonic".
It has been released under our new "techno" label
called BLQ. We will post the sampler soon, so listen to it.
It is really HOOOOOOOTTTT!!!
Last but very important thing: we have compiled

Ciao to everybody,
I hope the last day of the 1999 was full of
festivity for you all ! Where have you been????
I personally really enjoyed my Christmas Holiday
and now here in SAIFAM we all are ready to start a faboulous
2000!!! Here the usual news regarding what's happening in
our studios:
FACTORY STUDIOS and FACTORY TEAM, during this
month will work on the new KEN LASZLO single. Ken, would like
to invite a special female guest (like he did with Jenny).
At the moment this new female voice is "top secret"....but
be sure that it will be a great duet!!!!
Me and Fabio Serra wrote and produced the
new DANTE track called "Flying Away" and the new
MORGANA titled "A Sign". Both singles will be released
very soon on 21ST CENTURY RECORDS.
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS of the fabioulous TURATTI
are working on a new remix of MICHAEL FORTUNATI "Into
the night". The track will be released on January on
ONE WAY label.
Obviously, in the beginning of the month and
after holidays there are not so much news but let me tell
you a bit about our new great Euro Compilation! We are going
to release "THAT'S EUROENERGY VOL.4" ! It will include
13 "hot" tracks and it will be out at the end of
January. Do NOT miss it !!!!
We are getting closer and closer to finish
our "millenium" project called THE GOLDEN AGE ALBUM.
I told you previously that there will be a special track written
by me and Giuliano Crivellente: "A Simple Song"
. Here is the lyrics:
When there's
no more time to know
Feeling you still have to grow
In a moment realize
You're the light in my eyes
Babe please
don't be so shy
You can keep my love alive
For a moment you hide
All the tears that you
Wouldn¹t cried
Baby don't forget the words I'm singin'
Baby don't forget the way we are
Stay with me just for a while
with my melody you¹ll smile
Cos' when the sun shine so bright
You're my simple song
You're my light
...a simple song for you

MAURO's
CORNER - February 2000 (copyright
S.A.I.F.A.M. srl)
Hola amigos,
I hope you all doing great! Here are the February
news for the SAIFAM tribù!!!
With FACTORY TEAM I'm going to start some
new interesting productions like the new DJ MIKO's.....a great
remix of an old great rock song "Ruby Tuesday" by
ROLLING STONES. I really hope we can have a strong success
with it. Speaking of DJ MIKO. He has been voted as one of
the best act of '99 in Japan!!! Yes my friends! Tt seems that
our artist is becoming very popular in Japan and in the mid
of February (11-12-13-14), DJ MIKO and Tiziana will fly to
Tokyo to participate in a very important TV show there!
With TURATTI and his UNIVERSAL STUDIO, we
have planned a production for a new Artist called AKA using
a very strong kick and bass (in the BACON POPPER style) with
a guitar sample of SIMPLE MIND ("Don't You"). I
highly recommend this track to all the DJS playin TECHNO.
Surely it will be a dance-floor hit!
Me, ANTONIO PUNTILLO & ROBY ARDUINI (UNION
TEAM) are working on a new track for our "blonde"
JESSICA JAY!! After the big success of "Chilly Cha Cha"
and "Summer Nights" (both tracks were very popular
in Asia. "Chilly Cha Cha" has been even translated
to a Chinese language), we decided to change a little bit
the style. This new track will be more dance (a kind of mix
between Aqua & Vengaboys style with a progressive bass-line).
Now some news regarding our new CDs releases:
First of all for all our EUROBEAT-lovers in
the end of February we will release "THAT'S EUROENERGY
VOL.4" including many "hot" euro-tracks by
such artists as RADIORAMA - PATRICK VICTORIO - BASEMENT THREE
- WIENNA - WILDSIDE - LUNA - PLASTIKA etc. As usually the
tracks have been selected by me and my great "macho"
friend TROY!
Speaking of "macho"! Don't forget
to take a look at our "MACHODANCE" compilation !!!
You can't miss it. This CD includes original '80s versions
of big dance hits like "YMCA" and "Macho Man"
by VILLAGE PEOPLE, "The Best Disco In Town" by RITCHIE
FAMILY, "I Am What I Am" by GLORIA GAYNOR, "Gimme
Some" by JIMMY BO HORNE, "Hula Oop" by PLASTIC
BERTRAND and many many other huge artists.....unbelieveble!!!!!
Last thing: THE GOLDEN AGE (Farina & Crivellente
story) will be a little delayed. We are still working on the
booklet (will contain many news, infos & photos). The
TRIPLE CDs set + the booklet will be released around mid of
March. We apologize for this delay, but hey! It will be a
"great" release for all our fans!!!!!!

How are
you?
Here in SAIFAM everything is fine...and the
studios are busy as ever!I have a lot of good news for you!!
First of all, let's talk about Compilations:
Did you have a chance to listen to "TRASGRESSIVA"
on our web? The tracking list is very "hot" for
all the lovers of the dancefloors. It entered the italian
sales charts reaching the 14th position. Not bad for the first
week of appearance!
Another strong compilation went out: THAT'S
EUROENERGY VOL.4. Don't miss it!!!
Here the studio's activities:
FACTORY SOUND STUDIOS: Finally we finished
the production of the new KEN LASZLO!! A very melodic dance
track performed by Ken and Morgana. Yes! Together in a fantastic
duet...the track is called "Maybe a lonely night".
I would like to know your opinion on it, please!!!! The track
is already posted in our NEW RELEASES section! In March Me
and the "The Faboulous Factory Team" will work on
6 NEW EUROBEAT TRACKS for Japan market!!! Please "euro-japan
fans" let's keep tuned on BBB label......new releases
are coming!!!
As concerning the "hard man" FABIO
TURATTI is going to remix a 70's hit. We received the original
accappella fof the 70 hit Canadian group called L.I.F.E. The
track that we are going to remix is the huge "You Are
All Played Out"....I am sure we will do a great work.
This track will be a little bit house......(see the great
"Sex Bomb" by the "evergreen" Tom Jones).
Also many news for all the "techno fans"!!!!
many releases on BONZAI, RED ALERT, DANCE POLLUTION &
HOUZY....my favourite tune is "Dynamite" by DJ GIUS...a
very explosive techno track!!!
Speaking of Japan again, at the end of March,
I will fly to Tokyo where I will stay for couple of days.
The next MAURO'S CORNER will be written directly from a Japanese
computer. I will let you know all my "japanese dreams"!!!

Just to give you an idea how Japanese are, I knew that the

run into the store to buy this wonder :-) !!! This thing is
really shocking me !!!
Well,

will add four new remixes to include in the album. Everything
will be ready around June and the album will be released in
Japan (September). We will shot a video as well. We have chosen
